Old Soles

For this commission work, I was presented witha large duffle bag by a dance mom. It was filled with tap shoes of all sizes: tap shoes her son had worn from the time he began tapping.

The task seemed overwhelming: how could I choose? How could I get them all into one composition? I went to put them away and was interrupted by the phone ringing. When I came back to my unfinished task, this is what i saw...
